People:
University students are the target of this short-term mission trip. Like America, Japanese society is greatly influenced by the university. The large university population is very open and accessible but has not been strategically reached by the young church of Japan. We, in the PCA, have a tremendous opportunity to pioneer the field of college ministry in Japan.
Purpose:
We purpose to aggressively evangelize and disciple the unchurched multitudes of young people outside the church, while at the same time providing leadership, encouragement, training and discipleship for the youth in the church so that they may be unleashed to live holy lives and effectively reach their peers for Christ. As young nationals become Christians through college ministry they will be discipled so that they may become the godly pastors, elders, deacons, husbands, fathers, wives, mothers, politicians, doctors, lawyers, teachers and scientists that the world needs for the future. They will be salt and light in this dark and decaying country.
We also believe that, as God saved most of the pastors who are now serving in Japan when they were young students, he will also save and disciple today’s students while they are young, to the end that many will also devote themselves to the serving and establishing of the Church in Japan.
Short-term teams will work to make new connections for the Impact college ministry that seeks to reach students for Christ and disciple it?s few Christian students. Most students involved with Impact are not Christians yet they have joined an openly Christian club on campus. There will be numerous opportunities for team members to share their faith with college students. This is a very relational and Impact-ful mission trip.
